Tobacco and Young Children
Do you know that smoking before and during pregnancy is the single most preventable cause of illness and death among mothers and infants?
Sudden Infant Death (SIDS) is more likely to occur in children exposed to second hand smoke.
Children exposed to second hand smoke are at greater risk for colds, ear infections, sore throats, and lung problems such as coughing, wheezing, and asthma.
Have you tried to quit, and it didn’t work? You are not alone; it often takes several attempts before you achieve success. Remember what worked well and what didn’t and try again. You can do this; you can become a non-smoker.
There is help and support. Understanding the quitting process can make it easier. Regardless of how long you have smoked, becoming a non-smoker now, and having a smoke free environment, significantly reduces the health risks to you and your children.
